This depends on the material!
Sterling silver looks its best when it is worn all the time, the more you wear it the less likely your piece is to tarnish. If it does begin to tarnish, use a soft jewelry cloth to gently clean it. If you're not going to be wearing your silver often, keep it in an airtight container to slow the oxidation process.
Gold Plated Vermeil will wear over time. Do NOT use a jewelry polishing cloth on your Vermeil jewelry it will wear the plating off more quickly, instead use a cotton cloth. You can also use a bit of warm soapy water to gently clean the surface.
3D printed nylon is super easy to clean and care for. If your piece looks dirty, you can rinse it off under some warm water, the pieces are sealed and are waterproof. Please avoid any contact with alcohol, as it may cause the ink to run.
It is a thick gold layer over Sterling Silver.
Many pieces in current collections are plated in 14k Gold by Red Sky Plating in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
From the Red Sky Website:
(pronounced ver-MAY) Vermeil has appeal for people who seek luxury, durability, and cachet. Vermeil is so synonymous with prestige and grandeur, that the White House has a Vermeil Room, which takes its name from an extensive and beautifully displayed collection of vermeil flatware and table settings.
Because vermeil adds a thick layer of gold over sterling silver it is an excellent choice for luxury jewelry, as well as being practical and long-wearing.
To achieve this distinctive finish, we gold plate your sterling silver items to the required thickness to meet the Federal Code for vermeil: 2.5 microns (100 millionths) of gold over sterling silver. We use x-ray fluorescence testing to verify the thickness of your gold.
